Nail of the Day: Whimsical nails! :)

I've wanted to paint my nails like this ever since I first got these two polishes (which, if you've not guessed from the title, are Revlon's Whimsical and Popular) which is now quite a long time now- and it definitely turned out as well as I'd wanted :)

I actually painted my nails on Thursday... but my Kindle came yesterday and I've been far too busy playing around with it and reading books! (my sister is reading The Fault in Our Stars right now!) So far I am smitten with it- I'll post a review at some point if you're interested.

Anyway, nails! I used 2 coats of Models Own Snow White as a base colour for this mani, I know a lot of people use coloured bases to help the polishes show up more vibrantly (and I'm very sure I'll do that soon too), but I really wanted to get the milky pastely shade that appears in the bottle to translate to my nail. Then I used either 2 or 3 thin coats (depending on glitter coverage) of Whimsical on each nail, with Popular as an accent.

I love these polishes!!! 3 separate people at work complimented my nails on Friday- and they all seemed pretty surprised that the glitter came in the polish (I think they thought I added it on top myself) They are just stunning, and I'm SO happy I finally got my hands on them (thank you Pryanka!)

Several reviews I've seen say that these polishes are quite gloopy and hard to work with, but I didn't find that at all- the formula was, if anything, on the thin side, and although you have to be careful to place the glitters evenly/where you want them, it was pretty easy to achieve this look :)

I love the two colours in combination too- especially because Whimsical has pink glitters in, it ties them together perfectly!

So far it seems pretty long lasting too- of course I used Sally Hansen base and top coats, but for 4-5 coats of polish (which often chips of really fast on my nails) they are remarkably intact after 3 days wear.

Do you have Whimsical or Popular? Any awesome colour combinations I should try with them?

  1. I love the combo of them together, and they look great on your nails :) Yeah aside from having to place the glitters, the formula isn't that bad. I've seen worse xP

    1. Me too! Thank you :) Definitely, I was worried it would be worse thanks to it's less positive reviews- but it's great! :)
