I decided upon using a pale orange base colour (Revlon's Peach Smoothie) then using 3 orange shades in a kind of gradient effect up my nail- starting with the darkest shade towards the base of my nail.
Revlon Peach Smoothie, Nails Inc. Copacabana, Models Own Fuzzy Peach, Barry M Peach Melba Notice a peach theme in the polish names? |
In order to get the stringy effect you need to put a little polish onto a card (I always keep the perforated sections of tissue boxes for this purpose) and let it dry a little- after about 4/5 minutes the polish gets tacky and it's ready to use. Then just use a small dotting tool to drag it over your nails- it sounds very weird but it's really really easy to do!
The messy aftermath- but you can see how I placed polish on to get tacky! |
I'm not sure the stringy effect came out quite as I'd hoped- it is a bit of a blobby mess in a few places, but I do really like it, and I'm very sure I'll be doing it again (I've seen some awesome rainbow ones!) What do you think?
Have you tried the stringy polish effect yet? (this seriously needs a real, proper name- stringy polish does not sound nice...) if so do you have any tips?

I don't know if anybody has called it that yet, but I would call it the Silly String Manicure :)
ReplyDeleteHaha I love that name! :)

I've not seen this idea before, looks fab though! I got lazy this week :( I do want to try something like this soon.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's particularly popular (yet?) but it's fun! and I rather like it :) Ooh I look forward to seeing if you do!

I love your blog. I have been looking for a nail challenge that goes by weeks, but it also pretty simple yet not too specific to what you have to do. I am definitely going to start this one. I will also have to try this technique, it looks really cute.
ReplyDeleteAww thank you :) Glad you like it- I did choose the themes with that in mind! Have fun with it (looking forward to seeing your designs!) :)
