I decided to do a tulip inspired pattern/nail art because I have some really pretty tulips in my garden (though they are nearly dead...) I google image searched tulips and came across lots of lovely, blurred and abstract pictures of Dutch tulip fields, and decided that I should do that on my nails!
Lovely Tulips in my garden :)
Monet's Tulip Fields With The Windmill Rijnsburg |
Beautiful tulip fields
I applied a coat of China Glaze For Audrey, then added small dots of red, orange and yellow acrylic paint to my nails- I smudged them a little with another wet paintbrush, and kept adding until I was happy with the result. I also added a couple of dots to the top, to give a little more definition in places.
The acrylic paints I have are a brand called Henkel & Watermann, and I think I got them from The Works for 99p! I used Lemon Yellow, Vermilion, Crimson Red and Sap Green.
My ring finger came out a bit wrong, but I really like my middle and little fingers! I wanted to do an accent nail of sorts, so I drew more realistic (but not much...) tulips onto my thumb, adding green paint for stems.
I know this might not be to everybodys taste (my sister hates it, and says it's a total mess) but if it's good enough for Monet, it's good enough for me! (also, it does look better without the crazy close-up!)
What do you think?

Woah this is pretty in an abstract sort of way. I like this! The tulips on your thumb are particularly great <3
ReplyDeleteHehe it is- I'm sure a lot of people would hate it! Thank you :) I'm glad they came out ok, you know how terrible my freehand skills are!
