Review: MUA Professional Eyeshadow Palette, Dusk til Dawn

I've had this palette exactly one month now (what a coincidence!), so I decided it was about time I got around to sharing my thoughts on it! I got it when MUA were doing their Immaculate Collection palette free with £8 purchase deal, and as I'd been eyeing up this palette for a while- I actually mentioned it in my Starry Night palette review back in August- I simply couldn't leave it on the shelf...

For £4 (from the MUA Website or Superdrug) you get 12 lovely shadows; a total 9.6g of product. I don't want to repeat myself too much, as I've already reviewed (and raved about) the Heaven and Earth Palette and the Starry Night Palette- so if you've read either of those you will know that the shadows are fantastic quality, they are soft (verging on powdery, but I never get fall out, and it's not a big problem), well pigmented and wear really well on my lids (I use e.l.f. Regular Line Primer) with absolutely no fading or creasing.

Left!
Right!

Unlike the other two palettes I've reviewed there is a mix of shimmery and matte(ish) shades, and some with (fine) glitter- as well as a combination of neutral and brighter colours. As it's name (Dusk til Dawn) suggests, there are day and night-time appropriate shadows, and I think this would be my pick of palettes to take with me for a weekend away etc, as you can create so many very different looks with it like a neutral everyday look (perhaps with a pop of colour) or smokey eyes- it's awesome!

Right, less waffling, more swatches:

Top Row
As I anticipated, the 3rd and 6th shadows in this row are already firm favourites, they are similar amber shades, but 3 is fairly matte, and a little lighter, while 6 has a lovely golden shimmer. Shade 4 is also really beautiful, it's showing up a little more golden in this picture, but it's like a moth-grey crossed with an antiqued gold shade- very unique :) I also love the 2nd shadow; a shimmery charcoal grey- perfect for a crease colour :)

The two palest shades are good as inner corner highlight- which is really my only criticism of this palette, do I really need two highlight shades in one palette? I suppose the 1st shade would go nicely over other colours to add some shimmer.

Bottom Row
The bottom row is home to the brighter shades in the palette, the 1st shade is a lovely gold, and the 2nd a pale grey (which is much prettier in real life than is showing here!) The fun starts with the 3rd and 4th shadows, 3 is a fairly bright turquoisey blue (which does show up more teal in the pan) and a deep teal with glitter (another pretty unique shade I think) -  they're definitely not shades I would ever pick out for myself (wimp!), but I think I will enjoy them a lot!

The purple is really stunning- it has a black base with almost duochrome purple effect- I'm sure it reminds me of a nail polish! And the black is a fairly standard matte black with lots of small glitter particles

I do really love this palette, probably not quite as much as the Heaven and Earth, but it is a very close second I have made a significant dent in several shades (mostly from the 'safe' top row colours! This would be my go-to travel palette because of the brilliant selection of colours and is, as always, a good quality bargain- I definitely recommend taking a look :)

Do you have the Dusk til Dawn palette? Would you like it?

p.s. I've been misspelling 'Dusk' as dust and duck throughout this post, it's been driving me mad!

    1. They're beautiful aren't they? :) MUA is a UK brand so I'm not sure how easy they will be to get in Canada, maybe ebay will have them though :(

  3. I actually think that first shadow is a really lovely neutral shimmer, that would probably be one of my favourite colours in the palette! The first two in the bottom row are also really nice!

    1. Yeah it is lovely I was just a bit conufused as to why there are two very similar shades in one palette. I think that grey might be my favourite of the palette :)
