(yet another) little haul!

Once again Christmas shopping has encouraged me to buy some things for myself!

First of all, I went into Superdrug and discovered that for once the Immaculate Collection palette was actually in stock- and as I've been wanting it since it came out, and I wanted to get some MUA goodies as gifts I grabbed it (last one in the shop!) and took advantage of the 'free when you spend £8' promotion:

So I got the Dusk til Dawn palette (another palette I've wanted for a while, but always seems to be out of stock at my superdrug) and a couple more glitter eyeliners- after the sucess of yesterday's Glittery French NOTD I thought I'd get a couple of new shades to play with :)

I love this palette- there's a nice combination of fairly neutral and bright colours- perfect for both day and night looks! I'm particularly looking forward to using the top right shade (on the right side) a  lovely amberish shade, and the one just to the left of it- a nice antique gold shade :) Although some of the shadows do look quite similar to those in the Heaven and Earth palette- I've swatched and compared and there are no dupes!

Glitter Eyeliners Shade 6 (bright pink) and 2 (gold)

As you can hopefully tell, the pink shade (6) has a beautiful blue duo chrome- it's awesome! And I like the gold because it's relatively cool toned- it reminds me of the new Revlon Gold Coin polish.

Ooh it's so pretty! I love it! And again- no dupes here :) And there are so many colours- I'm not sure where to start, next weeks make up is gonna be fun!

And finally, I got some nail wheels! I found mine on eBay for £2 (not sure which seller, there are hundreds available- just search!) There are 15 wheels with 18 'nails' each- I think I'll be cataloguing my nail polish collection (all 118 of them!) and using the rest to play around with nail art designs :)

Does anyone know how to remove polish from nail wheels? I've heard you shouldn't use nail polish remover...

What have you been buying recently? I'm putting myself on a no-buy until the sales start!!!

  1. There was a great article I came across when looking into nail art wheels - http://wixology.wordpress.com/2009/04/02/proper-care-and-feeding-of-nail-polish-swatching-wheels-or-what-works-for-me/

She says to use tape to peel them off, and that if we use topcoat, it comes off in giant chunks...I don't know if that'll work. I've been too scared to use my wheels b/c I don't want to ruin them.

Polish swatching on wheels would be cute, but a little booklet has been more efficient for me. It's easier to take around and make sure I don't have dupes.

  3. Ooh thanks, that was super-helpfull :) I quite want to use clear nails so I can layer polishes/see how shades look on me etc. but that is a great idea :)

  4. Removing polish from the wheels, you just want to use acetone free polish :)

  5. Oh so is it the acetone that damages the plastic? Thank you!

  6. See I made the mistake of buying the opaque nails instead of transparent ones. The ones you got though, you should be able to just pop the polish off whole (if you use topcoat). I've heard a lot of people use these specifically to paint a design, then pop that design off and adhere it to fake nails for themselves or even just stick it on with topcoat for a day to real nails. IDK i've never tried but if it comes off in one sheet of polish, it sounds like that would work
