Challenge Week 6: Nude/Brown!

The weeks are flying by and it's already week 6 of my 52 week nail challenge- and this time the theme is nude and brown colours, which I think makes a nice change from all the bright designs I've done for the past 5 weeks of challenges :)

I decided that e.l.f.s Desert Haze was the perfect shade for this week- a nudeish pale brown. I thought about doing some konading or polka dots, but I wanted to keep with a neutral and natural theme and keep it simple, with just an accent nail of e.l.f. Moonlight; another colour combination I cannot believe I've not tried before, they work so well together!

I used 3 thin coats (I find that it's mostly opaque in 2 coats, but I didn't want to take any risks!) of Desert Haze, then 3 coats of Moonlight on my ring finger (this is quite a sheer polish, and I mostly use it as a shimmery/pearlescent layer over the top of other polishes)

Somehow I've managed to use just one brand of polish like last weeks metallic nails- isn't it funny how these things work out? :) I really love both of these shades- Desert Haze is a great dupe to so many higher end brands and I don't think I've ever seen a polish like Moonlight, it's beautiful!- two e.l.f. must-haves :)

I've collated a little list of all the blogs that are joining in with the 52 week challenge and posting their weekly manicures- if I'm missing someone please let me know and I'll update :)

  3. Thanks for linking me :)

Desert Haze is nice, have you the smokey brown to compare it too?

  4. My pleasure :)

I have a NOTD with them both in (http://gretalrabbit.blogspot.com/2011/06/nail-of-day-elf-desert-haze-smokey.html) - Smokey Brown has a glitter top coat over but you can still see the colour pretty well :)

  5. Hows the quality on the ELF nail polishes? Since they're so cheap, I'm worried about trying them and having them disappoint me...

  6. Well they're probably not the longest lasting polishes I have (though nothing lasts too long on my nails...) but they apply really nicely and they are definitely worth getting- I love them! I have a more in depth review here: http://gretalrabbit.blogspot.com/2011/08/review-elf-nail-polish-many-pictures.html
